The Balbao Inn has just finished a complete overhaul and now looks more like a boutique hotel than a Bed and Breakfast. The gardens have been landscaped and a swimming pool has been added. The interiors and bedrooms have received new fixtures and fitting and the reception area has been redesigned.
What hasn’t changed is the wildlife which calls The Balboa Inn home. The family of agouti’s, still lives in the gardens, the plethora of tropical birds still come to feed and a mysterious frog lives in a drainpipe above the terrace.

The Balbao Inn is located in a beautiful residential area of Panama City and only 5 minutes from the Panama canal. Albrook Airport and Albrook mall are just a cheap taxi ride away and Tocumen International Airport, where you will most likely arrive is just over 30 minutes away. They can arrange a driver to collect you at Tocumen International Airport (PTY). It can bring you directly to the Bed and Breakfast – please request this requirement when booking.

One of the huge benefits of our location is the wildlife which meets in our gardens each day. The colorful birds will entertain you at breakfast and throughout the day as many of our visiting twitchers have discovered.
Many of our guests want to experience the elements which make up this beautiful country and we have a huge network of partners who cater for just about any kind of trip or tour you wish to try.
From visits to the Sloth Sanctuary, a tour around the Botanical Gardens or the Casco Viejo, to helicopter trips, boats trips, island visits and diving excursions. You can even canoe through the jungle and visit a tribe of local Panamanian indians. This is not Disneyland, these indians really do live in the jungle in a way which has not really changed in hundreds of years.
If the jungle is not your thing then why not visit the Guna people on the Caribbean coast and spend a night or two on one of their gorgeous tropical islands. Just imagine swinging in a hammock as the sun goes down on another fantastic day.

We stayed at The Balboa Inn in August 2016 and used it as a hub for exploring Panama. Rosie and Simon who have since taken retirement, were magnificent hosts. They went out of their way to make sure we enjoyed our stay. By all accounts the new managers are equally professional.
The accommodations at The Balboa Inn are well furnished, spotlessly clean and well maintained. If you are looking for a back to nature experience without leaving Panama City this is it. We cannot recommend this place enough. The location is excellent and the views from the top of Ancon Hill are a photographers dream.
